Kryptiq Corporation Acquires MedShape

Document Management Solutions and Interface Engine Technology From MedShape Expands Kryptiq's Existing Healthcare Workflow Messaging Platform

PORTLAND, Ore — November 10, 2003 —Kryptiq Corp., a leading provider of secure messaging and workflow automation platforms for streamlining healthcare communications, today announced that it has acquired MedShape, LLC, a Utah-based medical information software company. The acquisition enables Kryptiq’s customers to further extend their investment in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare information systems to improve clinical efficiencies.

MedShape currently offers two products, DocuTrak and RosettaStone, that are both used in leading hospitals and health systems throughout the country. These include Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX), Mount Sinai NYU Health Hospital Network (New York, NY), Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles, CA), Austin Diagnostic Clinic (Austin, TX), and Allina Hospitals and Clinics (Minneapolis, MN). MedShape’s products allow customers to manage clinical documents and enable the exchange of data between disparate information systems. By combining MedShape’s and Kryptiq’s technologies, customers will now have greater capabilities for streamlining clinical workflows and integrating existing healthcare information systems.

“This acquisition dramatically increases Kryptiq’s connectivity footprint with healthcare information systems,” said Luis Machuca, chief executive officer for Kryptiq Corporation. “The addition of MedShape’s products to our existing offering will provide Kryptiq customers with a powerful and easily deployable solution for secure messaging, workflow automation, document management, and information systems connectivity.”

The entire MedShape team will join Kryptiq, including Sam Shapiro, founder and president. The MedShape team brings extensive experience in developing healthcare IT solutions and integrating healthcare information systems. Kryptiq will retain the MedShape offices in Utah, which will focus on product development.

“There is a great synergy between Kryptiq and MedShape,” said Sam Shapiro, president of MedShape. “We are both focused on improving healthcare efficiencies. The Kryptiq E-Gateway provides a robust messaging platform for MedShape’s existing product offering that substantially increases the value of our solutions.”
