Michigan State University Health Selects Kryptiq for Connecting Patient Health Data
Integrated Electronic Medical Record Solution Streamlines Healthcare Communications
PORTLAND, Ore — August 13, 2003 —Kryptiq Corp., a provider of middleware platforms for automating healthcare workflows, today announced that the Michigan State University (MSU) Health Team has commenced deployment of the Kryptiq E Gateway™ and ChartCatalyst™ to expand their electronic medical record (EMR) solution. Kryptiq’s solutions integrate secure messaging and electronic patient data capture forms directly with GE’s electronic medical record system, Logician®. MSU HealthTeam will now use secure email as the primary vehicle for delivering confidential patient information among its 30 clinics throughout the greater Lansing Michigan area as well as with patients and affiliates outside this network. By integrating secure messaging with existing information systems, MSU continues to demonstrate leadership in applying technology to produce tangible benefits in health care quality, affordability and outcomes.
MSU HealthTeam was established in 1990 and offers both primary and specialty health care services to the general public. MSU HealthTeam is comprised of approximately 190 physicians from 14 clinical departments and over 400 allied health professionals, which include nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, therapists and nutritionists.

The Kryptiq E Gateway adds security and workflow components to the existing email infrastructure to enable the secure transport of critical data across organizations, between users and databases. Message encryption and recipient authentication are performed automatically and each secure message is tracked to provide a complete history of content and attachment handling. Kryptiq’s software monitors all email for sensitive information, such as a social security number or test result, and automatically protects confidential patient information according to configurable policies. Recipients of secure messages can use any email application and do not need to install special software.
Kryptiq’s ChartCatalyst software suite enables form-based collection of patient data and automatically inputs this information into existing electronic information systems. Integrated with the Kryptiq E Gateway, this solution allows patients to provide personal and confidential health information securely to their doctors from any web-enabled device at home, in the office, or in the clinic.
