Kryptiq Corporation Acquires RosettaMed

Company Adds Forms Capability to Automated Healthcare Workflows

PORTLAND, Ore — July 22, 2003 — Kryptiq Corp., a provider of middleware platforms for automating healthcare workflows, today announced the acquisition of RosettaMed, a Houston-based software company that streamlines the process of capturing patient data into health information systems. Kryptiq will integrate RosettaMed products to facilitate the design and delivery of structured forms to automate information sharing between people and systems in practice management environments.

The RosettaMed Catalyst software suite enables form-based collection of patient data and automatically inputs this information into existing electronic systems. Integrated with the Kryptiq E Gateway™, a secure messaging and workflow automation platform, this solution allows patients to provide personal and confidential health information securely to their doctors from any Web-enabled device at home, in the office, or in the clinic. Benefits of this approach include shorter patient wait times, improved clinical productivity and increased accuracy of patient records.

“The healthcare industry is in need of a solution that addresses the complexities of information sharing, which is critical to getting work done,” said Luis Machuca, chief executive officer of Kryptiq. “The addition of RosettaMed to Kryptiq’s product line will help streamline the flow of information in healthcare. RosettaMed’s technology will integrate easily with our platform to support continued improvements in the way patient information is handled in clinical and practice settings.”

The Kryptiq Gateway adds security and workflow components to the existing email infrastructure to enable the secure transport of critical data across organizations, between users and databases. Message encryption and recipient authentication are performed automatically and each secure message is tracked to provide a complete history of content and attachment handling. Kryptiq’s software monitors all email for sensitive information, such as a social security number or test result, and automatically protects confidential patient information according to configurable policies. Recipients of secure messages can use any email application and are not required to install special software.

Philip Beckett will join Kryptiq from RosettaMed as a Sales and Implementation Engineer, bringing extensive experience in application design and development, including relational web applications and standard data interfaces for health information (HL7). Beckett has created an electronic medical record application for outpatient, sub-specialty clinic settings as well as custom electronic data interfaces for biomedical equipment and Web-based data collection. In addition, he developed database and wireless data collection applications for inpatient professional billing that are currently in use at Baylor College of Medicine, University of Oklahoma and Texas Children's Hospital.
