Demand for EHR Connectivity in Community Settings Drives Growth of Kryptiq Corp.

Inland Northwest Health Services, Community Health Network, and Providence Health System Demonstrate Trend Toward Adoption of Clinical Messaging Technologies

DALLAS — February 14, 2005 — Signaling an increase in focus on connecting providers across the U.S., Kryptiq today announced that additional health delivery networks have licensed the company’s electronic health record (EHR) connectivity technologies. Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS), a key member of the developing regional health network in Washington and Idaho; Community Health Network in Indiana; and Providence Health System in Oregon, ranked second among the nation's top 100 integrated health networks in 2004, are all using Kryptiq’s ClinicalMessenger™ technology to enable electronic collaboration within their community. With the addition of these customers, Kryptiq’s secure connectivity technologies are now being used across the U.S. in 44 states and Washington, D.C., by thousands of healthcare providers.

Kryptiq Pioneers Evolving EHR Connectivity Market
From early on, Kryptiq identified the importance of connectivity solutions that would allow the effective sharing of patient information among users across a wide range of independent care settings. When the company was launched in 2001, Kryptiq became the first secure connectivity provider to develop and deliver a neutral connectivity platform for existing EHR applications based on email and the Internet. Since 2001, the company has achieved year-over-year growth of more than 200 percent, delivering increased value to EHRs by providing technology solutions that enable patient information to be shared electronically, where and when it is needed. Kryptiq has demonstrated national leadership through its involvement in the Center for Health Transformation and the eHealth Initiative, where it serves as co-chair of the workgroup on governmental policy.

Kryptiq Solutions Establish Network Benefits for EHR Adoption
Providence Health System, along with The Oregon Clinic, collaborated on an eight-month study to evaluate the effectiveness of Kryptiq’s ClinicalMessenger as a solution for sending referrals electronically between providers. The study, released today, revealed a combined savings of $10.37 for each referral sent between Providence and The Oregon Clinic (see related release: Kryptiq Clinical Messaging Integrated with Electronic Health Records Saves Healthcare Industry $10.37 per Referral). Kryptiq’s ClinicalMessenger is a neutral application that can be easily integrated with any EHR system to support electronic sharing of patient information in a community setting. Use of ClinicalMessenger improves communications efficiencies between physician practices and creates a network benefit by allowing structured patient information to be shared between disparate systems across community networks.

Proven Industry Savings Lead to Increased Adoption of Clinical Messaging
The savings achieved by Providence and The Oregon Clinic is motivating other communities such as INHS and Community Health Network to deploy Kryptiq’s products. In just the past 15 months, Kryptiq’s customer base has expanded to 21 additional states. The increased adoption of clinical messaging integrated with EHR systems is advancing the connected U.S. healthcare system envisioned by Dr. David Brailer and other government and industry leaders.

“The healthcare system, mired in paper, leads patients to experience abrupt, discontinuous and disconnected care,” said Luis Machuca, president and CEO of Kryptiq Corp. “The weight of 30 billion pieces of paper a year has finally reached the tipping point and opened the door to demand for connectivity solutions.”
