Luis Machuca
President and CEO
Luis Machuca is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Kryptiq Corporation, a healthcare connectivity company that facilitates a first-of-its-kind, open collaborative network for healthcare. Mr. Machuca received his BSEE in 1980 and MSIE in 1981 both from Purdue University. He joined Intel Corp. in 1981 where he spent 15 years in a variety of roles in management before becoming co-GM of the OEM Products & Services Division where he established Intel as the #1 motherboard supplier in the world. In 1996 he became the EVP of the NEC Computer Services Division of PB-NEC Corp. In 1999, Mr. Machuca joined eFusion Corp. as President and COO and subsequently merged the company with ITXC. Mr. Machuca currently serves on The Regence Group Board of Directors, The Umpqua Bank Board of Directors, the University of Portland Board of Regents, and The Oregon Business Council Board of Directors. Mr. Machuca has also served on the Oregon Health & Science University Foundation Board of Trustees, the ENDfootwear Advisory Board, the Catholic Charities of Oregon Board of Directors, the Portland Metropolitan Family Services Board of Directors, the Jesuit High School Board of Trustees, the Lifeworks NW Board of Directors, the Boy Scouts of America Cascade Pacific Council Executive Board, and was a finals judge for the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009 NewVenture Championship business plan competitions sponsored by the University of Oregon’s Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship.
Jim Coppa
Vice President of Provider Enterprise Solutions
Jim Coppa has over 20 years’ experience in high technology software development, including more than 15 years in healthcare. He has held senior management positions both in hospitals and independent software companies. He founded an electronic medical records software company in 1996 that was later acquired by MedicaLogic/Medscape in 1999. Prior to joining Kryptiq, he was Director of Product Development at MedicaLogic/Medscape for online patient portals and handheld applications.
Malcolm Costello
Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
As SVP of Sales and Marketing, Malcolm Costello is charged with developing and leading the company strategy for increasing market awareness, growing revenue, and creating strategic alliances. Prior to joining Kryptiq Corp., Malcolm was the Marketing Manager for the Physician Office Business at GE Healthcare, responsible for the product strategy and evolution from a stand-alone EHR to an integrated physician office solution. Previously he was VP of Clinical Applications Marketing at MedicaLogic/Medscape and held senior positions within both product development and marketing throughout MedicaLogic’s history. He has over 25 years’ experience in high technology software development and delivery, including more than 15 years in the healthcare sector. Malcolm graduated from Warwick University in the UK with a BS in Computer Science, earning 1st class honors. He is past co-chair of the Interoperability Expert Panel at CCHIT, and is a member of the external advisory board of the biomedical informatics program at OHSU.
Mike Gluth
Senior Vice President of Product Management
Mike is an accomplished healthcare executive of nearly 30 years and is charged with leading Kryptiq’s product strategy and execution. Prior to joining Kryptiq, he led AllscriptsMisys Healthcare’s complete product portfolio of ambulatory, homecare, acute care and connectivity solutions. As VP of Strategy and Product Management with Siemens Medical Solutions, Mike led the company’s global molecular and hybrid imaging innovations and solutions. He started his healthcare career at Baxter Healthcare, where he drove the company’s infusion delivery solutions to a # 1 market position and expanded its global infusion systems business through the identification and integration of key product and technology acquisitions. He received his BA in Business Administration from North Park University and his MBA in Finance from DePaul University. Mike holds hardware and software patents in the medical imaging and medical device product segments.
Murali Karamchedu
Adviser
Murali Karamchedu received a Bachelor’s degree in EE from the University of Mysore, India, in 1992. He then joined OMC Corporation in India as a project engineer. In 1994, Murali worked with Paracel Inc. (now part of Celera). In 1999, he joined talkopia, a branded telephony service of eFusion Inc. Murali has published several technical papers on artificial intelligence, has had several patents issued under his name, and has several other patents currently under review.
Kurt Koehler
Chief Financial Officer
Kurt Koehler received his BA from Stanford in 1977 and an MBA from Wharton in 1981. He joined Intel in 1981 and spent 20 years in a variety of roles including finance, product marketing, general manager, plant manager and director of internal application development. He received two Intel Achievement awards, one for implementing the first Independent Software Vendor program at Intel and another for implementing Intel’s first mission critical client/server system.
Steve Kupsky
Vice President of Implementations and Customer Support
As VP of Implementations and Customer Support, Steve Kupsky, leads the clinical and technical deployment consulting teams as well as Kryptiq’s customer support and help desk. Prior to joining Kryptiq, Steve was Director of Clinical Systems for both NYU Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center, deploying EHR and related HIT systems across hospitals and community practices in New York City. He has over 15 years of experience in Healthcare Information Technology and has deployed HIT solutions to hundreds of hospitals and IDN’s nationwide. Steve graduated Summa Cum Laude from New York Institute of Technology with his degree in Electrical Engineering.
Jaime Saavedra
Senior Vice President of Customer Success
Jaime received his BSME in 1979 from the National University of Engineering in Peru and joined Intel after receiving an MSME from Texas Tech University in 1981. After receiving an MBA from Thunderbird in 1987, Jaime went to work for IBM where he graduated from IBM’s Sales and Marketing School and supported sales for mid-range systems. He returned to Intel in 1988 and spent the next 13 years in a variety of management positions in international sales and marketing, strategic account management, business and program management, and manufacturing operations. During his Intel career, Jaime developed its distribution channel in Latin America growing the business to $200M in a three year period through a network of 21 distributors in 8 countries. From 1998 to 2002, Jaime was a senior staff member in two consecutive new business ventures funded by Intel developing e-commerce services and security software, respectively. Since 2002 Jaime has participated as a senior executive in VC backed software start-ups, most notably Kryptiq and Portico Systems, with leadership positions in Professional Services and Customer Experience Management, developing web-based software platforms for workflow automation in health care.
Jeff Sponaugle
Chief Technology and Security Officer
Jeff Sponaugle received his BSCEE in 1994 from Purdue University. He joined Intel Corp. In 1995, working in product development for audio and video stacks, as well as advanced networking protocols. Jeff was most recently the principal architect at eFusion/ITXC, authoring more than 10 patents. He has extensive expertise in Software and Network Architecture, as well as application and network security.
